🏳️‍🌈PrideMonth : how the Consulate General of France is mobilizing 🏳️‍🌈

I. The actions of the Consulate General of France in New York.

> Conference 934 - 1969-2019 : Fifty years of defying gender: How Stonewall riots changed our world
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Stonewall, the Consulate General of France in New York organized a conference on June 4th with Frank Giaoui, Suzanne Goldberg and Sylvie Tissot, moderated by Camille Robcis.
The idea was to organize an inclusive discussion on how the LGBTQIA + rights movement has influenced other areas of public debate (gender equality, sexuality law, etc.) in a transatlantic perspective between France and the United States.

> The Pride Regata

The Consulate General of France is also proud to take part in the Pride Regatta organized by the French American Yacht Club on Saturday, June 29th.
Among other things, this parade will raise funds for the benefit of the Ali Forney Center, an association that helps and supports LBGTQ homeless youth in New York.

II. ... in continuity with the actions of France at the national level ...
In France, the mobilization efforts against hatred and anti-LGBT discrimination, launched by the French government in 2016 and piloted by DILCRAH (Interministerial Delegation in the fight against racism, anti-Semitism and anti-lgbt hatred) has set 5 priorities:

1- To be a Republic that is exemplary in its opposition to hatred and anti-LGBT discrimination

2- To punish every act of anti-LGBT hatred and to better protect its victims

3- To educate the public against anti-LGBT discrimination and hatred

4- To take action against anti-LGBT discriminations on a daily basis

5- To continue the international struggle for the rights of the LGBTQ community

This 3 year plan of action will mobilize 1.5 million Euros to conduct actions at the national and local levels, and in particular to support associations that disseminate information, take preventive measures against LBGT hatred and discrimination, train, and support the victims of such violence. In addition, this plan will drive communication, the organization of events and the support of research on LGBT issues.

III. ...and international level.
France will continue its engagement in favor of the global decriminalization of homosexuality at the international level.
France will pursue the commitment to this issue throughout 2019 in international forums, at the United Nations and at the Counsel of Europe, where France is president from May to November 2019, and also during its presidency of the G7.
