4th edition of Black History Month

For the 4th year in a row, our now traditional celebration of Black History Month at the Consulate of France has attracted a great number of people. On February 28th 2013, a cocktail was organized with fundraising in favor of the Harlem Academy. George Sape played the role of auctioneer this year again, and wines and champagne were starring in the leading role. In his speech, the Consul – Mr. Bertrand Lortholary – reminded all of the longstanding friendship between France and the African-American community in New York, mentioning most particularly the “Harlem Hell Fighters” who fought alongside France during World War I. He has once again reaffirmed the Consulate’s support to the Harlem Academy. A jazz concert was given by the Sugartones Brass Band.
