  • Harlem Academy Dinner

    On November 17, 2014, for its fifth edition and its fourth consecutive year, our now-traditional gala dinner benefitting the Harlem Academy drew a wide, warm audience. Tim Speiss led an auction featuring mostly wines and champagnes.

    In his opening remarks, Mr. Bertrand Lortholary, Consul General of France, hailed the relationship that unites the African-American community and France, evoking an important but little-known episode of our shared history, the “Harlem Hell Fighters”, who fought alongside France during World War I. He made it a point to renew the Consulate’s support for the Harlem Academy.

  • The "Hermione" exhibition at the Consulate

    An exhibition on the "Hermione", the legendary frigate on which Lafayette sailed to the United States in 1780, took place on September 23rd at the French Consulate General, from 11am to 5:30pm.

    Admissions were free for all, and a screening of the making of the Hermione was presented, as well as a documented journey across this 17-year experience.

  • "Stand Up For Passion" #4

    The Fourth edition of Stand Up For Passion took place on July 23 at the Consulate General of France in New York. Stand Up for Passion’s monthly events (SU4P) bring together 7 speakers who talk for 7 minutes about their passions and life-changing moment. SU4P is conceived as a stand-up show and enables entrepreneurs and passionate people to find inspiration. The first SU4P was held at We Work Soho West on April 4, 2014. Since then, the number of SU4P regulars has quickly increased. SU4P is a creation of Arnaud Collery and Serge Ganem, two passionate French entrepreneurs who live in New York. Together with Eric Vidal, they coach selected speakers, using techniques inspired by movies and theater.
