Characteristics for Photos

The following recommendations will help to submit the correct type of photos so that your application is not rejected or processing prolonged.

- Photos must be 3.5cm X 4.5cm in color (1.4" X 1.9")
- The portrait must show the top of the shoulders (or base of the neck).
- The size of the face must be between 32mm and 36mm or take up 70 to 80% of the frame.
- The face must be correctly centered on the photo.
- The photo must have been taken less than six months and perfectly resemble the applicant at the day of application and the day of pick up of the passport.
- Please do not pre-cut the photos.

- The luminosity and contrast must allow the natural color of the skin. Their must be no flash reflections on the face or no red eyes.
- The facial expression must be neutral and the mouth closed with no hair infront of the eyes.
- The face must be seen from a front view. Both sides of the face must be visable.
- Styled poses ( looking over one shoulder, head bowed etc...) are not allowed.
- The head must be free of all headgear, no hats, scarves, headbands or other decorative objects. There is no exception to this rule.
- If you wear glesses, you are not required to wear them in the photo. However if you do your eyes must appear clearly; no tinted lenses, no flash reflections, the frames must not cover any part of your eyes, light or thin frames are recommended.
