Don’t miss the French American Yacht Club’s Rainbow Armada on June 29

The French American Yacht Club is organizing a sailboat parade to raise funds for the benefit of the Ali Forney Center on June 29th.

The event is open to everybody, non-sailors and sailors alike. A fleet of over twenty sailboats will be parading to the Statue of Liberty, honouring the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising.

An after-sail cocktail party from 4:30 to 6pm, at the Loft at Pier A during which the Ali Forney Center will receive the net proceeds of the fundraiser.

The Rainbow Armada is organized by a LGBTQA committee with the French American Yacht Club. The FAYC is a non-profit organization with a mission to make sailing accessible to all. Their events mobilize sailors for good causes and strive to benefit local communities in the New York City area.

The Ali Forney Center was founded by Carl Siciliano in 2002 in memory of Ali Forney, a homeless gender-nonconforming teen, who was brutally murdered in December of 1997. The AFC is the largest organization dedicated to LGBTQ homeless youth in the country providing housing, meals, medical care, and critical services like job training and education to address NYC’s LGBTQ youth crisis.
