French Chefs for the Planet : when French gastronomy meets food sustainability [fr]

From September 23rd to September 29th, during Climate Week NYC, the “French Chefs for the Planet” initiative invites you to enjoy the best of France without compromising your commitment to climate action.

From September 23rd to September 29th during Climate Week NYC 2019, a dozen of French chefs and restaurants will feature eco-friendly dishes and initiatives through which you’ll discover that gastronomy and sustainability can do wonders when working together. From the origin of their products to their cooking methods and packaging, the dishes will go out of their way to make sure you get the best of both worlds.

These restaurants located in Manhattan and Brooklyn are great examples of local businesses that are choosing to not to wait for regulation in order to take action.

The “French Chefs for the Planet” campaign was launched during last year’s Climate Week NYC by the Consulate General of France in collaboration with the Climate Group. Its objective is to showcase New York-based French Chefs and restaurants who participate in making food sustainability one of the tools of climate action.

According to Eric Ripert, the initiative’s ambassador, the goal is indeed for the chefs to use their popularity as a platform and to inspire others to follow their lead in the fight against climate change.
