Long stay visa for diplomatic and official passports holders

No appointment required for holders of diplomatic and official passports; every applicant must appear in person between 9am and 12pm Monday to Friday.

This Consulate will only accept applications from residents of the States of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Bermuda (we do NOT accept applications from B1/B2 visa holders. They must apply in their country of residence).

Please be advised that visa applications by mail are not accepted.

Official and diplomatic passport holders are advised that long stay visas for France take a minimum average time process of 2 weeks. We advise you to apply at least 2 months prior to your departure for a position of this type in France.

Attention: The Visa Section does not make any copies. You must bring your documents and the required copies.


Original passport or travel document (+ 1 COPY of the identity pages) plus a copy of your USA visa. Your passport must have been issued less than 10 years ago, be valid for at least three months after your return to the US and have at least 2 blank visas pages left.

One application form filled out completely and signed by the applicant

2 ID picture with white background, full face, no glasses nor hat, closed mouth, no scarf

If you are not a US citizen, a valid US visa

An official diplomatic letter specifying your name, your position, your passport’s type and number, and the name of the person you replace (or detailed precisions about your future duties in case of a new post if you are not replacing anyone)

A flight booking : JUST BOOK your trip but DO NOT PURCHASE your tickets until the visa has been approved.
