West Point : World War II Veterans Decorated
As 2014 marks the 70th Anniversary of the Normandy landings, the Consul General of France in New York, Mr. Bertrand Lortholary, and Mr. Guy Wildenstein, President of the American Society of the Legion of Honor, bestowed the insignia of Chevalier in the National Order of the Legion of Honor upon 34 World War II veterans.
A powerful symbol of French-American friendship, this ceremony took place at the prestigious Military Academy in West Point on Friday, May 9.
Established on the banks of the Hudson River in 1802, the same year that the Legion of Honor was created, the United States Military Academy of West Point is the oldest military academy in the United States.
