The festivities of July 14 cross metropolitan France’s borders. Gastronomy, dance, music: New York also celebrates the French National Day as it should.

On Friday, July 13, 2018 the Consulate General of France and The Committee of French Speaking Societies organize a Bastille Day Ball at Sony Hall. Music performance will be done by the Oh La La Jazz Band and the DJ Romann Sebag (Les Nuits Françaises) !

In the State of New York:

  • Monday, July 9, 2018:

- See you on the 9th of July at the FIAF Tinker Auditorium for a French wine tasting. Summer in the South of France tasting highlights some French specialties: wines, beers, but also cold meats and cheeses. Get your tickets here.

- The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) and many French associations organize a champagne & chocolate tasting. On the afternoon of July 9, enjoy excellent champagnes and chocolates. A jazz band will play at the Skyroom. Book your seats here if you are over 21 years old.

  • Saturday, July 14, 2018:

- Go to the French food court Le District to enjoy specialties prepared for July 14th! Cocktails and live music await you to celebrate Bastille Day!

- On the 14th of July, the famous Tartinery bistro organizes a special Bastille Day brunch. You will find French food and wine at good prices. Three addresses to get to the Tartinery: Nolita Tartinery, 209 Mulberry Street New York / Tartinery The Plaza, 1 West 59th Street / Hudson Eats Tartinery, Brookfield Place, 225 Liberty Street.

  • Sunday, July 15th, 2018:

- The FIAF is organizing a street party on 60th Street between Fifth Avenue and Lexington Avenue. About 10,000 people will come to celebrate the French Revolution on one of the three avenues blocked around the French cultural center. On these avenues, French culture will be honored in all its forms! Throughout the day, you will attend French cancan shows, mimes, choirs of small singers or workshops in French, and blue-white-red parade. Pancakes, croissants, wine, cheese and other chocolate éclairs will also be around.

- A Petanque Tournament will be held in Brooklyn from 10:00 am at Bartabac, in Little Paris.

  • The week of July 2nd to 15th: Bastille Week

- As part of the Bastille Week, week of celebration of July 14 in the United States, French cuisine will be in the spotlight. On this occasion, French and Francophile restaurants in New York took the opportunity to introduce a week in honor of French cuisine: the French Restaurant Week. In 2018, it will take place from July 2nd to 15th. During this week, many restaurants offer a small price menu where you can enjoy good French dishes with a glass of wine.
