Women in Corporate Leadership Conference [fr]
In partnership with the Economic Club of New York, Richard Attias and Associates, and the New York Stock Exchange, the Consulates General of France and of Canada in New York are launching the Women in Corporate Leadership initiative to advance the discussion on how to increase the number of women in leadership roles and to inspire leaders to tackle this subject in their organizations.
In 2017, Egon Zehnder International published a report on the gender diversity of major international companies’ executive boards. Despite some progress in 2016, men hold 81% of board chairs and make up 95% of CEOs. Most women thus still face a glass ceiling in the business world.
Drawing on this observation, this event will bring together decision-makers and experts from the private sectors, government, corporate boards, academia and search firm. They will share their experiences and their ideas to make a positive impact on gender equality issues.
The event on January 31st will consist of three morning panel discussions and a keynote lunch. The first session will highlight the latest research and key findings on the status of gender diversity in the world’s largest corporations. The second panel will focus on the best practices to increase the representation of women in business, government, academia, and other fields. The last session will concentrate on the roles of Boards of Directors and CEOs to ensure the rise of women, particularly looking at responsibilities for effective succession planning.
We are expecting French and Canadian ministerial representations as well as many high level business executives from the US, Canada and France.
