Valentine’s Day Recital by the French-American Piano Society at the Consulate [fr]

For Valentine’s Day, come spend a romantic evening at the Consulate General of France in New York, starting at 7pm!

On February 14, 2023, artists Shelén Hughes, soprano, and Matthieu Cognet, piano, will present a selection of lieder.

A ’Lieder’ is a German song that sets poetry to music, performed by a single vocalist and piano.‘Lieder’ most often refers to the specific musical settings of Romantic poetry; both music and lyrics composed in the 18th and 19th centuries. Romanticism was predominantly concerned with love and feeling, as well as the sublime beauty of nature and man’s place on earth. Lieder sought to express these concepts through music.

Don’t wait to get your tickets!

This event is a benefit for the French-American Piano Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting cultural exchange, education and networking between France and the United States through French pianists and music.
