About the French-American Piano Society (FAPS)

The French-American Piano Society is a non-profit organization designed to promote cultural exchange, education, and networking between France and the United States through French pianists and music. Founded in 2014 by Dr. Mathieu Petitjean, the French-American Piano Society provides scholarships for aspiring young French pianists to attend competitions and festivals in the United States, presents world-renowned artists in recital, and endeavors to promote the activities of French pianists in America and American pianists dedicated to French piano music.

About their scholarships program

The Young Pianists Scholarship Program, spearheaded by the French-American Piano Society, is a distinguished initiative aimed at nurturing the next generation of French piano virtuosos for U.S. audiences. This program offers exceptional young pianists an invaluable opportunity to advance their international presence and experience. Selected scholars from the Conservatoire National de Paris benefit from access to world-class performance venues at the Consulate of France in New York and the Embassy of France in Washington, D.C., where they are exposed to and meet curious and supportive U.S. audiences.

The program is designed to foster artistic growth, encourage cultural exchange between France and America, and provide a platform for young talents to showcase their skills on an international stage. Through financial aid, mentorship, and performance opportunities, the Young Pianists Scholarship Program is dedicated to cultivating the musical prowess and professional development of promising pianists, ensuring the continuation of a rich legacy of piano artistry.

Since 2024, the French-American Piano Society and its patrons have granted 18 scholarships and organized more than 50 recitals.
