The new report by the Atlantic Council’s Transatlantic Relations Program was recently released in Paris and Washington. According to this report, France and the United States present exceptionally complementary competitiveness profiles. Moreover, the report lays out a series of initiatives designed to promote the two countries’ competitiveness as well as their common success and leadership in the twenty-first century.

Nicholas Dungan is a Senior Fellow with the Council’s Program on Transatlantic Relations, a Senior Advisor to the Institut de Relations Internationales et Stratégiques in Paris (IRIS), a member of the board of directors of the Chatham House Foundation and an Honorary Fellow of the Foreign Policy Association in New York. Nicholas Dungan has published in the International Herald Tribune, Le Monde, Le Figaro and Rue89, among others. He makes frequent appearances as a speaker on television and he has participated in radio broadcasts. He was president of the New York-based French-American Foundation from 2005 to 2008. Prior to joining the French-American Foundation, Mr Dungan spent more than twenty years as an international investment banker in New York, London, and Paris.

Thomas Philippon is John L. Vogelstein Faculty Fellow and Associate Professor of Finance at New York University - Stern School of Business. His research focuses on finance and macroeconomics. It includes empirical and theoretical work on financial distress and systemic risk; the links between asset markets, corporate investment and firm dynamics; the evolution of the financial industry; the design of optimal interventions during financial crises; labor relations and unemployment; corporate governance and accounting manipulations. He was on leave during the academic year 2012-2013, working as Senior Economic Advisor to the French Finance Minister.
